I know, I'm supposed to say software will fix all the things. And sometimes software is part of the solution, sometimes. Still doesn't sound like much of an endorsement from a guy that's spent the last 20 years building things for the web, does it?
I had a professor in college that said, "if someone asks you to build some software for them, you should tell them to hire a team of blue-haired old ladies with legal pads and pencils to solve the problem instead". I was in college a loooong time ago, a lot has changed since then. His main point was that building and maintaining software is more expensive than most people realize.
